Gallivanting in Vashon Island

After a busy week teaching in Seattle, it was time to adventure to a place I’ve never been: Vashon Island. I packed my bags, picked up my bestie and boarded the ferry ready to explore!

The island off the beaten path, Vashon is just an hour ferry ride from West Seattle.   As we came closer to the island, Seattle’s grey skies were turning blue and tall green trees were everywhere we looked. I was skeptical at first, but that changed once we drove around and saw the scenery change around us. “Expect nothing and surrender to everything” became my mantra for the journey!

After driving around and following our intuition instead of GPS, we reached the coast line. It was absolute perfection. Blue water, bluer skies, captivating views and an empty beach to our self. It was beautiful and we just soaked it in.

Our next stop was Point Robinson Light House , located on a scenic shoreline park with captivating views of Mount Rainier. It was just a five-minute hike and we were welcomed to open views of the expanding water with a mountainscape backdrop. It was simply majestic and we were overcome with feelings of peace. There is no time to be bored in a world as beautiful as ours.

Only a short trip away from the Seattle mainland, Vashon is a gem for those who want fresh air, mesmerizing views, limited crowds and delicious food. After my magical experience, Vashon Island made it on the short list for the Yoga and Art Immersion Weekend Retreat, I’m planning with the incredible artist Kimberly Adams. I can’t wait to show her the beautiful property I have in mind as well as the amazing wineries in the neighborhood.

We’ll be posting updates for upcoming retreat at Datza.us and on my Instagram. Stay tuned and feel free to drop me a line if you have any questions!
